FRESNO PAL LEADERSHIP ACADEMY AT GASTON

In its first-ever leadership class, Sergeants Leonard Cabrera and Conrado Martin taught the cohort about leadership qualities, ethics, and how to make sound decisions to help shape their futures in a positive way. The sergeants volunteered their time with the hopes of showing the future leaders that someone is taking the time to get them to the next level.
During the 10-week program, participants learned about the Fresno Police Department, received public speaking lessons from Fresno City College and Fresno State professors. The program ended with a celebratory trip to Santa Monica Pier and a visit to the Museum of Tolerance.
The first Fresno PAL Leadership Academy at Gaston was such a success that it will begin again January 2020. The long-term goal is to conduct academies city-wide in other middle schools.
